I put this dressing on everything.
When I first started cooking, my mom taught me the importance of finding good sauces and dressings. They bring a unique flavor to any dish, and the base doesn’t matter quite as much if the sauce is doing it’s job.
The dressing below can be used on salads of course but try pouring it on a plate of steamed veggies, stirring it into cooked rice, or using it as a sandwich spread, vegetable dip, or marinade for meat alternatives like tempeh.
Salad dressings can dress all sorts of things—get creative!
Vegan Creamy Basil Salad Dressing
1 cup water
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/3 cup raw cashews
3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
2 tablespoons lemon juice
7-10 large fresh basil leaves
1 clove garlic
1/ teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt or to taste
Add all the ingredients above to a blender and bend until smooth.
